Mr. Dustin Mott, Assistant Director, comes to us from the Odessa school district and will be assisting NKCHS and directing bands at NGMS.

Ms. Taylor Lee, Colorguard Coordinator, comes to us from the Northland area having assisted with guards in our district. She will be coaching our Fall and Winter Guards.

Last Saturday the NKCHS Hornet Band performed at the Carrollton Band competition. This was a highly competitive class with some very good band programs. The NKC Band received 5th place in a very close scoring. We've recieved some great comments and are looking forward to developing our show further.

Ms. Epperson would like to personally thank all of the parents and volunteers for their help to make Saturday so successful! It is amazing how well this program runs with the support of our team. She would also like to thank the band staff, Ms. Fernandes-Bata, Mr. Fillingham, and Mr. Jepson for all of their help in the preparation of the competition. Finally Ms. Epperson would like to thank the Band for their grace under pressure, and their excellent perfornance. It only goes up from here.

Best wishes!

We're having a Cinco de Mayo - Fiesta, to celebrate the end of the year! This will be a potluck dinner. The Band Booster board will provide the taco meat filling and we are asking each class to bring the following items:

· Freshmen – Desserts (cookies, brownies, etc)

· Sophomores – Taco Bar fixings – shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese (Colby/Jack or Mexican style), taco shells, flour tortillas, sour cream, salsa, tortilla chips

· Juniors – sides – fruit or veggie trays, rice, beans

· Seniors – 2 ltr Pop or bottled water

· Drum Majors – ice in cooler

Here is the breakdown of the schedule for the Spring Concert:

· 5:30 pm – Meet in NKCHS Courtyard, weather permitting (bring chairs)

7:00 pm - Concert performance

Seniors need to be sure to have their uniforms (Marching band and Concert attire) and equipment returned by May 9th. This will need to be done in order for the kids to graduate.

As always, thank you so much for your support.
